Gulf Medical University – College of Pharmacy was strongly represented at the prestigious 5th MENA Pharmacy Congress, held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on May 30-31, 2025. The congress, recognized as one of the landmark pharmacy practice conferences in the Middle East, brought together more than 200 pharmacy practitioners, clinical experts, and healthcare professionals for two days of scientific exchange and professional networking.

As part of the scientific program, Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, Clinical Lecturer at the College of Pharmacy and Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist and Preceptor at Thumbay University Hospital, delivered an insightful presentation titled “Steroids in Critical Care: Evidence, Experience, and Clinical Pearls.” In his talk, Dr. El Ouweini highlighted the latest evidence, ongoing controversies, and practical considerations related to the use of corticosteroids across various critical care conditions, drawing on both current research and bedside experience.

In addition to Dr. El Ouweini’s contribution, several faculty members from the College of Pharmacy attended the congress, further emphasizing GMU’s active role in advancing pharmacy practice and education in the region. The participation of GMU faculty members in such high-profile scientific forums reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to professional development, clinical excellence, and regional collaboration.
