In celebration of World Health Day 2025, the GMU Pharmacy Students Association (GPSA), in collaboration with (Egyptian Pharmacy Students’ Federation) EPSF, proudly hosted an inspiring and educational webinar titled “Mental is Also Health” on April 25th, 2025. The session aimed to highlight the importance of mental health, aligning with this year’s global World Health Day theme.

The webinar featured three esteemed guest speakers:
- Dr. Jisha Myalli Lucca, Assistant Professor at Gulf Medical University, Ajman, UAE, and an accomplished academic researcher.
- Dr. Mohamed Nabil, Teaching Assistant in the Pharmacology and Toxicology Department at the Faculty of Pharmacy, New Mansoura University.
- Dr. Abdelrahman Alabbary, Demonstrator of Clinical Pharmacy at New Mansoura University.

The event covered several critical mental health topics, including anxiety, eating disorders, and seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Dr. Jisha Myalli Lucca discussed SAD, a condition that often goes unnoticed but significantly impacts mental well-being. Dr. Mohamed Nabil and Dr. Abdelrahman Alabbary shared their insights on anxiety and eating disorders, shedding light on symptoms, consequences, and ways to support those affected.
The session was hosted by Salma Sheha a pharmacy student from Egypt and representing EPSF and co-hosted by Shahd Tarek, a 4th year GMU PharmD student and representing GPSA.
The webinar was engaging and interactive, with students showing a high level of interest, asking thoughtful questions, and actively participating in discussions.
Over 100 students attended the Zoom session, reflecting a strong enthusiasm for learning more about mental health and its impact on overall well-being. The large turnout demonstrated the growing awareness among future healthcare professionals about the importance of addressing mental health alongside physical health.
The GPSA remains committed to providing meaningful opportunities for students to learn from experts, exchange ideas, and prepare to play a vital role in promoting holistic health in their future careers.
