College of Pharmacy at GMU Hosts Interactive Open House for High School Students

The College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University (GMU) successfully conducted its much-anticipated Open House event, welcoming high school students from across the UAE. The event was designed to provide young minds with an engaging and practical insight into the exciting world of Pharmacy.

Students participated enthusiastically in a range of hands-on activities, including dispensing medications, practicing vaccination techniques, and preparing vanishing cream — a classic pharmaceutical formulation. These interactive workshops not only sparked curiosity but also allowed students to experience the practical side of pharmacy education.

In addition to the activities, students attended an orientation session where they were introduced to the dynamic role and broad scope of pharmacists in the UAE. Faculty members emphasized the growing opportunities for pharmacists in community health, hospitals, research, regulatory affairs, and the pharmaceutical industry.

The Open House proved to be a true eye-opener for many high schoolers who were unaware of the pharmacist’s essential contribution to healthcare systems. It successfully reshaped perceptions and projected a positive image of the pharmacy profession to the next generation of healthcare professionals.

The College of Pharmacy at GMU continues to lead initiatives that bridge the gap between school education and professional healthcare careers, building a strong foundation for future pharmacists. The Open House reaffirmed GMU’s commitment to community engagement and academic excellence.
