Health Screening & Awareness Camp

Nur Al’ Amal team under the Thumbay Institute of Population Health successfully organized a health camp at a labor camp in Ajman for the Red Crescent Aoun Competition for Community Service. The campaign focused on encouraging preventive healthcare, early disease detection, and medical awareness among workers by offering free health checks, medical consultations, and necessary wellness support. The activity provided the student volunteers an opportunity to secure first-hand learning in community service and health outreach.

To ensure seamless execution, event volunteers were registered through a Google Forms registration link to allow organizers to assess interest and assign specific roles. The selection of volunteers ensured they were well spread across different activities, including health checkups, participant coordination, and managing logistics. A pre-event briefing was scheduled before the event for the training of volunteers on medical procedures, event flow, and participant management for effectiveness and professionalism.

The health camp itself was planning to deliver the most comprehensive health checks to laborers. Those who participated underwent checks for BMI, blood pressure, glucose level, and dental checkups, and from there, were advised by general practitioners on their health issues and recommendations. The event was supported by doctors and other healthcare professionals who ensured that all the checks were done properly and that the participants got proper medical advice during the event.

In addition to conducting medical checkups, the initiative focused on providing essential items to the workers. Each participant received date packets, butter cookies, water, and juice, addressing both nutritional and hydration needs. These thoughtful gestures were well-received by the workers, enhancing the overall effectiveness of the activity.

At the end of the health camp, a feedback survey was conducted among the participants to gauge their experience. The feedback was uniformly positive, with 100% of the participants being satisfied with the services received. Most laborers indicated an interest in attending such events again in the future, and the overall satisfaction rate was marked at 4.9/5, which points towards the effectiveness and success of the initiative.
