GMU-IVPN Student Club Raises Awareness of Sexually Transmitted Diseases Among GMU Students Community

On February 12, 2025, the GMU-IVPN Student Club, under the College of Pharmacy, successfully organized an Awareness Event of Sexually Transmitted Diseases at Gulf Medical University (GMU). They aimed to educate GMU students on sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), their prevention, symptoms, and the importance of early detection and treatment.

The event featured multiple interactive activities, including quizzes and educational games making learning both engaging and impactful. These activities encouraged students to test their knowledge, correct misconceptions, and gain a deeper understanding of safe health practices. The incorporation of fun, interactive elements ensured that participants remained engaged while absorbing valuable information on sexual health. These activities not only made learning more engaging but also fostered an open dialogue on a topic often surrounded by stigma.

In addition to the games, an engaging presentation led by pharmacy students provided insights into common STDs, risk factors, symptoms, and preventive measures such as vaccination, safe practices, and routine screenings. Students were encouraged to ask questions in a judgment-free environment, ensuring that they left with a better understanding of how to protect their health and make informed decisions.

The GMU-IVPN Student Club students emphasized the role of healthcare professionals in sexual health advocacy, stressing the importance of early intervention and accessible medical guidance. By integrating education with interactive participation, the GMU-IVPN Student Club successfully delivered an engaging, informative, and impactful experience for students.
