GMU Pharmacy Site Visit to Al Qassimi Hospital, Sharjah

On February 7, 2025, Prof. Dixon Thomas and Dr. Omaimah Toufiq from the GMU College of Pharmacy visited Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah for a site follow-up. This visit was part of an ongoing collaboration to support Pharmacy students during their clinical rotations at the hospital. These students actively participate in ward rounds alongside clinical pharmacists, gaining hands-on experience in patient care. In addition, they are trained in pharmacy operations, equipping them with essential skills to build a strong foundation in pharmacy practice. The involvement of GMU faculty ensures proper planning, monitoring, and assessment of students’ progress throughout their rotations.

To enhance the learning experience, site preceptors at Al Qassimi Hospital receive continued professional development, access to practice resources, and other career development opportunities facilitated by Gulf Medical University. These initiatives aim to strengthen the quality of pharmacy education and bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application. The university extends its gratitude to the Head of Pharmacy, Dr. Sumoud Hilal and excellent preceptors for their continuous support in training students. Their efforts play a vital role in fostering an environment that encourages professional growth and excellence in pharmacy practice.
