On Friday, January 31st, 2025, the College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University organized an insightful workshop on “Good Documentation Practices in Pharmacovigilance” for final-year PharmD students. The event, graciously hosted at Thumbay University Hospital, featured two distinguished speakers: Dr. Juny Sebastian, Assistant Professor & Acting Chair of the Pharmacy Practice Department at the College of Pharmacy, and Dr. Shamsiya Fathima, a Clinical Pharmacist and Drug Safety Expert at Thumbay University Hospital. This enlightening event aimed to provide our pharmacy interns with invaluable insights into the critical importance of pharmacovigilance in healthcare. The workshop delved into best practices for meticulous documentation, underscoring its significance in ensuring patient safety. Additionally, participants engaged in a hands-on session focused on adverse drug reactions and medication error reporting, equipping them with practical skills to excel in their professional journeys. The workshop not only enriched the students’ knowledge but also highlighted the commitment of Gulf Medical University to fostering excellence in pharmacy education and practice.
