The College of Pharmacy (CoP) participated and won three awards in the 2nd Al Ain University International Conference On Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences and the 3rd Al Ain University Health and Biomedical Postgraduate Symposium which was held between 22-23 January, 2025 in Al Ain University, Abu Dhabi Campus, United Arab Emirates. Master in Clinical Pharmacy (MCP) and Master of Science in Drug Discovery and Development (MDD) students at the CoP under the faculty supervision presented their research and thesis projects through an active engagement in both poster and oral presentations.

The COP students received three awards in this prestigious conference which reflects their high caliber and dedication. The MCP student Ms. Alaa Leila supervised by Dr. Juny Sebastian win the First Place in the category of Pharmacy Practice (Poster Presentation) and awarded a prize of 1,000 AED. Also, the MDD student Ms. Jamila Abdullahi supervised by Professor Shery Jacob won the Second Place in the category of Pharmacology and Molecular Therapeutics (Poster Presentation). Furthermore, our MDD student Ms. Nusaiba A. Babiker supervised by Dr. Ahmad Thabet and Dr. Eman El-Labbad won the Second Place in the category of Drug Design and Technology (Oral Presentation).
The MDD student, Aya Salim presented her project through an oral presentation titled ‘Phytochemical and Biological Investigations of Conocarpus Species Collected from UAE” under the supervision of Dr. Naglaa Saad Ashmawy. Another MDD student Nusaiba A. Babiker supervised by Dr. Ahmad Thabet and Dr. Eman El-Labbad presented oral presentation titled “Design, Synthesis, and Biological Evaluation of a Noverl Series of Anthranilate Derivatives as Potential Anticancer Agents”. Also, the MCP student Maisam Toba presented her project through an oral presentation titled “Assessing Adherence to International Meningitis Treatment Guidelines In United Arab Emirates Healthcare Settings: A retrospective study” supervised by Dr. Diana Malaeb.

Other students contributed to the conference through poster presentation titled “Evaluation of Antibiotic Prescribing Patterns and Post-Treatment Follow-up in Patients with Urinary Tract Infections: A Comprehensive Analysis of Clinical Practices and Outcomes” by the MCP student Asma Mastur Rehim and another poster presentation titled “Empiric Antibiotic Use and De-escalation Practices in Community-Acquired Infections in the UAE: A Retrospective” by Alaa Leila and both supervised Dr. Juny Sebastian. Also, MDD students participated in the conference presenting poster presentation supervised by Professor Shery Jacob for the following students: Fathima Shek Katherr presented on “Exploring Advanced Delivery Systems for Prolonged Local Anesthetic Applications” and Jamila Abdullahi presented on “Preparation and Evaluation of Tadalafil Loaded Nanoemulgel Transdermal Delivery System for the Management of Cold-induced
Vasoconstriction: A Potential for Raynaud’s Phenomenon”.
The congress was a notable venue for exposing COP to scholars and researchers from around the globe, as well as for networking and share of experience.
