On Monday, May 20th, Ms. Jamila Ojochenemi Abdullahi, a Master of Science in Drug Discovery and Development (MDD) candidate at Gulf Medical University (GMU), visited Ras Al Khaimah Medical and Health Sciences University (RAKHMSU) to commence a collaborative research project between the two institutions.
Ms. Jamila is supervised by Dr. Shery Jacob, Professor of Pharmaceutics, Gulf Medical University, and co-supervised by Dr. Muhammed Abdullatif, Associate Professor of Pharmacology, Gulf Medical University; Dr. Sai H.S. Boddu, Professor of Pharmaceutics, Ajman University; and Dr. Shahnaz Usman, Professor of Pharmaceutics, RAKHMSU. She was also accompanied and tutored by a senior MDD candidate at GMU, Ms. Hadil Rabaah, who has already concluded the animal investigations part at RAKHMSU and is currently working on biochemical and histopathological investigations at GMU premises.

During the visit, Ms. Jamila began the biological investigations for her project on the development of a new topical nanogel. This new project exemplifies the ongoing research collaboration between the institutions and highlights the efficiency of utilizing shared resources to advance pharmaceutical sciences.
The Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Muhammad Al-Shorbagy, commented, “Ms. Jamila’s research project significantly strengthens the research synergy between GMU and RAKHMSU.
