On March 7th, 2024, the College of Pharmacy hosted a career advising session centered around the Canadian pharmacy licensure procedure titled:
“Getting Ready For Pharmacy Licensure Procedure: The Canadian Model” featuring Dr. Amira Khalil, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, British University in Egypt.
Dr. Amira obtained her PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the Faculty of Science at the University of Alberta, Canada. During her time in Canada, Dr. Amira completed the Pharmacy Canadian Board, becoming a registered clinical pharmacist at Alberta in 2016. Her passion for pharmacy education motivated her to teach pharmacy courses at Bredin College for Learning, Alberta, Canada. The main focus of these courses is to enable students to get their Canadian pharmacy license by passing three exams mainly OSCE exam.

During the session Dr. Amira shared her personal journey and experiences in obtaining the Canadian license, making the content relatable and insightful. She shed light on the distinctive features of the Canadian licensing procedure, emphasizing the differences in requirements for graduates from Canada, the United States, or any other part of the world. Her insights into the varied routes underscored the importance of tailoring preparation strategies to individual academic backgrounds.
The interactive Q&A session that ensued underscored the audience’s engagement and eagerness to delve into the intricacies of the Canadian pharmacy licensure process.
