On Monday 4th of March, Ms. Marium Ahmed, a candidate in the Masters of Drug Discovery and Development program at Gulf Medical University’s College of Pharmacy, achieved a milestone in her research project aiming to search for a repurposed medication targeting Hunington’s chorea. Ms.Marium’s project is a collaboration between the College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University and Dubai Pharmacy College of Girls. Ms. Marium is supervised by Dr. Muhammed Abdullatif, Associate Professor of Pharmacology, College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University, and co-supervised by Dr. Hanan Anbar, Associate Professor, Department of Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacotherapeutics, Dubai Pharmacy College for Girls.
Ms. Marium’s research centers on unraveling the neuroprotective effects of an antidiabetic agent in a Huntington’s disease-induced model. Her study places a spotlight on the critical aspect of motor coordination, addressing significant challenges in the ever-evolving fields of neuroscience and pharmaceutical sciences.

Ms. Marium’s efforts in this collaborative research venture underscore the university’s commitment to fostering impactful partnerships and nurturing the next generation of pharmaceutical researchers.
