GMU Participation in the 15th Asian Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology (ACPE), Bengaluru, India

Members of the faculty and students from College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University (GMU) participated in the 15th Asian Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology (ACPE), hosted by International Society of Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) in association with JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru and Indian Association of Collges of Pharmacy (IACP) in Bengaluru, India from October 26 to 28, 2023. Their contributions encompassed various roles:

Dr. Juny Sebastian,  Assistant Professor at the College of Pharmacy, delivered a presentation during the education session focused on “Pharmacoepidemiological study designs” held on October 26, 2023.

Dr. Juny Sebastian and Dr. Dixon Thomas, the Associate Dean Clinical and Professor at the College of Pharmacy, served as speakers in the symposia session titled ‘Unraveling vaccine hesitancy in Asia: Strategies to build trust and address safety concerns’ on October 27, 2023. Dr. Juny’s presentation explored ‘Building Trust in Vaccines: Navigating through Safety Concerns and Hesitancy in Asia,’ while Dr. Dixon presented ‘Tradeoff of COVID-19 Vaccine Breakthrough Infections among Pregnant Individuals.’

Ms. Kripa Mathew, a fifth-year PharmD student, and Dr. Juny presented their research work in the form of a poster titled ‘Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice of the UAE Population on Over-the-Counter Drug Use’ on October 27, 2023.

Other contributions of Dr. Juny

  • Moderator for a symposia session focused on ‘Advancing Patient Safety and Personalized Care for Oncology Patients’ on October 27, 2023.
  • Coordinated the spotlight poster presentations of the conference, which took place on October 27 and 28, 2023.
  • Served as a program committee member for the ACPE conference, contributing to the planning and execution of the event.
