On March 14, 2023, the International Epilepsy Event convened a gathering of GMU PharmD students to conduct a community engagement program with the objective of raising awareness regarding epilepsy and its ramifications on individuals and families. The GMU-IVPN Students Club was responsible for organizing the event. The content and design of the campaign materials were revised and completed in collaboration with IVPN-Students Listserv’s public health committee. It was held at Thumbay University Hospital and was open to individuals and families who were affected by epilepsy, as well as members of the general public who sought to increase their understanding of the condition. The attendees had the opportunity to acquire knowledge pertaining to various aspects of epilepsy, such as the risk factors, clinical manifestation, and management of the disease. Additionally, the participants were provided with free seizure first aid training and were given access to resources and support groups that were available in the community. The International Epilepsy Event achieved a great success that demonstrated the potential of collaboration and community involvement in promoting public health and well-being.
