I Khadija Jalal and my teammates, Athira Suresh Kumar, Afnan Nurul Aman Shaikh and Swetha Kannan, all from the 3rd year of the MBBS program from College of Medicine, Gulf Medical University, presented a poster on our research titled ‘Predictors of literacy, and attitude of Complementary and Alternative Medicine among adults in Ajman, U.A.E,’ during the Arab Health Conference held on January 31, 2023 at the World Trade Center, Dubai in the Future Doctors Zone.

Our team-research project was a cross-sectional study carried out among the adults in Ajman, UAE, from January 2022 to December 2022 under the supervision of Dr. Jayakumary, faculty from Department of Community Medicine. This was a new experience for me and my group in conducting research, which gave us a chance to interact with a diverse group of people of various age groups as a part of our data collection. We also learnt how to handle and operate the SPSS software, which in my opinion is an essential skill needed by all medical professionals to undertake research, to keep pace with the ever-evolving field of medicine. The guidance and motivation provided by Dr. Jayakumary in carrying out this research was essential for the successful completion of this research. Her dynamism, vision and sincerity has motivated us to perceive the branch of research in a positive light and encouraged us to take part in more research projects.

The Exhibition also involved a wide range of display and lectures. There were many educational tools on display which could be utilized by medical students to perfect their clinical skills. This included a virtual reality patient examination teaching tool which had multiple options for examination and diagnosis, as well as identification of the pathological features, organs etc., associated with the pathology. There were also numerous new devices which are under development on display by Tech companies. The pavilion also had case-study areas consisting of an operating room, intensive care unit, and emergency room, which was completely integrated with the latest tech. These were utilized for learning the management of various medical emergencies, as well as featured newly developed sensors and devices which could be used for the efficient management of the patient. Overall, the experience was a very enlightening learning experience.
