GMU APPE Students Organize a Career Counseling Session on The Pharmapreneur Mindset

On 28 December, 2022, College of Pharmacy APPE students, as part of their Academic Pharmacy rotation, organized a Career Counseling Session for students at the college of pharmacy.

The workshop was titled: The Pharmapreneur Mindset By Dr. Ahmad Badr, The Founder of PharmaPlus Co. and Co-founder of La Pharma & Amal Pharmacies in Lebanon.

Ahmad co-founded “La Pharma Pharmacy” in 2021 during the economic crisis in Lebanon and the ongoing pandemic. The strategic work was in favor as the pharmacy was ranked an “A” pharmacy after only a couple of months after launching. In that year, he also co-founded “Pharma Plus” which is a purpose-led business that is committed to helping people live better.

The workshop started with his journey in pharmacy school and the influence of society on his career. He spoke about the traditional viewpoint of pharmacy being a salesperson and how he tried to change the algorithm by preparing, being the most knowledgeable in the field, planning a team who has the same goal as him and then executing his plan.

Additionally, Ahmed spoke on how to create opportunities during global crises, how medicines were short in Lebanon and his pharmacy focused on supplying medicines which was beneficial in the long run.

As none of my team members had any previous experience in organizing such an event, we are glad that we could bring something that was very informative and we could manage the entire event”.

Another student said: “It was an amazing opportunity for me. It was an opportunity for us to practice our organizing and communication skills in a very different way. I look forward to being part of such webinars in the future”.
