On Monday, October 17th, the College of Pharmacy and the master in drug discovery and development seminar series had a faculty research seminar presented by Dr. Heba Abdelmegeed Eldeeb. Dr. Heba has a Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Graduate School of life sciences, Hokkaido University, Japan. She has a profound experience in metabolomics, and immunology in which she got a Ph.D. from Faculty of Medicine, Technische Universität Dresden, Germany.
Dr. Heba’s seminar was entitled “Integrative metabolomics and lipidomics in immunometabolism”. The session introduced the concept of immunometabolism and the omics technology. It also elucidated the workflow of transcriptomics, metabolomics and lipidomics. She shed light on the role of lipid metabolism in macrophage polarization.
The session was followed by a deep discussion about the future and applications of metabolomics.
