On 28th April 2022, GMU’s PharmD students organized a community outreach event in Lulu Hypermarket Ajman highlighting the importance of immunization for all age groups under the 2022 theme “Long Life for All”. The event was held in the ground floors of Lulu hypermarket with access to shoppers from various age groups and ethnic backgrounds. Students addressed concerns and questions raised by visitors while also discussing the regulations involved with manufacturing and testing vaccines, how vaccines work against viruses, the eradication of various diseases and importance of following up on vaccine schedules for children, adults and patients with comorbidities at risk of infections.
Vaccination against Covid-19 was also discussed for concerned visitors with co-morbidities along with the need for booster doses and how to access the most relevant up-to-date guidance on Covid-19. Digital handouts addressing facts and myths about vaccines and a list of resources that provide guidance were distributed to visitors as a future reference.
The event was conducted under full supervision of GMU faculty members who are licensed Clinical Pharmacists in UAE.
