College of Pharmacy Students Attend Career Counseling Workshop: The Ultimate Career Choice: Truth or Myth?

On Wednesday March 16th GMU’s College of Pharmacy Student Happiness Center, organized a career counselling workshop by Dr. Aliaa El-Dardery titled ‘The Ultimate Career Choice: Truth or Myth?’. Along with other expertise, Dr. Aliaa is a Department of State Associate Certified Coach and International Coaching Federation Facilitating Career Development Instructor based in the USA.

The session began with Dr. Aliaa guiding the attendees to evaluate their current situations in career in relation to what their passions are. She used a variety of tools, including models and assessments, to help the attendees find career solutions and bridge the gap between career and personal goals. The session was open and interactive offering methods to identify students’ skill sets and correlation to various career needs.

Dr. Aliaa gave the students methods to use to gain fresh, informed perspectives on problems that they may face. In addition to offering new insight into challenges, she helped them to zero in on negative patterns that could be standing in the way of their success. Dr. Aliaa also spoke about working through barriers that may interfere with finding your passion. She also spoke about for identifying your passion and carving out an ideal career path.

One of Dr. Aliaa’s main take away messages was that it is important to have belief in yourself and your abilities and take charge of your career. Although, this can be frightening initially, the outcome and experience can result in much greater gains than if you keep waiting for what you believe is the right time.
