College of Pharmacy Faculty Research Seminar on “LNCRNA in Epigenetics: & the Junk & Myth”

On Tuesday March 22nd, the College of Pharmacy and the master in drug discovery and development seminar series had Dr. Nadine Hosiny as the speaker for the joint event. Dr. Nadine is Postdoctoral Associate, Biology Department, School of Sciences, New York University in Abu Dhabi  (NYUAD). Currently, Dr. Nadine research focuses on stem cell reprogramming and how actin affects nuclear chromatin organization.

During the session Dr. Nadine introduced the basic concepts of epigenetics with emphasis on Long non-coding RNA.  This was followed by overview on different laboratory techniques applied in epigenetics with emphasis on application of ChIPping and ChIRPping techniques.  Dr. Nadine shared with the attendees her latest research findings on non-coding RNA in Metastasis-Associated Lung Adenocarcinoma Transcript 1 (MALAT1).
