On November 24th, 2021, the 2nd International Conference on Clinical Pharmacy was held virtually gathering pharmacists and clinicians from different disciplines to discuss the recent advances in the field of clinical pharmacy and the differences in its implementation among more than 12 countries that were represented. Dr. Ahmad El Ouweini, Clinical Lecturer at GMU’s college of pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacist and Preceptor at Thumbay University Hospital (TUH), was invited to speak during this conference on the implementation of clinical pharmacy services. During his presentation, Dr. El Ouweini shared the core elements of any successful clinical pharmacy services, the novel, emerging clinical pharmacy services in the hospital and ambulatory care settings, and the impact of those services on patients’ lives and healthcare system sustainability. The concepts and real examples presented in this session are the core driver for the TUH’s clinical pharmacy team continuous mission to improve patient care and interprofessional education in this institution.
