College of Healthcare Management & Economics is a unique college offering a four years Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management and Economics and a 3 Semesters Executives Master in Healthcare Management and Economics. Where the other colleges of Gulf Medical University cater to the medical workforce for Healthcare sector, the College of Healthcare Management & Economics caters to the management side of the workforce, be it the professionals in administrative roles, or professionals working in the Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Procurement, Insurance, IT, allowing GMU to maintain the differentiation strategy in the health industry in higher education.
On 30th September 2021, the White Coat Ceremony was held for the new students commencing their education at GMU. As GMU begins its 25th Academic year, this ceremony marked the conferral of the White Coats to the students of First year by the Chief Guest and the honorable Founder President Dr. ThumbayMoideen.
During the ceremony the Chancellor, Prof. HossamHamdy explained the relevance of White Coat for students pursuing their career in Healthcare Management & Economics. He explained why wearing a White Coat is symbolic to the students who are going to learn and understand Health & Healthcare Industry. “You are a very important part of the team who is looking after the patients. You may be wearing a Business suit, but you understand what is meant by Health, what is meant by patient and all the issues of Finance related to that. ”
The College of Healthcare Management & Economics connects and synergizes the Management side of the Healthcare sector to its Medical side. The College students and faculty are the first one to wear White coats over the business suits while symbolically clubbing and binding the professions.
