On May 24 and 25, 2021, Gulf Medical University (GMU) presented two success stories in the 6th Regional Pharmacy Faculty Development Workshop. The Presentations were on the integration of role modeled collaborative care to advance pharmacy practice experience and early IPE in year 1 across all undergraduate programs at GMU. GMU Colleges of Dentistry, Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy came together and presented as a team.

The 6th Regional Pharmacy Faculty Development Workshop was part 2 of Best Practices for Planning and Evaluation of Interprofessional Education. The workshop is jointly organized by the Commission of Academic Accreditation (CAA), Ministry of Education, Al Ain University, Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, and American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. GMU faculty are regular and active participants in this annual faculty development workshop.

Vice Chancellor for Quality and Global Engagement and Dean College of Pharmacy Prof. Sherief Khalifa commented: “The Academic Health System at GMU has created a favorable environment for IPE and collaborative practice. Our next step is to embed IPE activities in every year of our PharmD curriculum and to establish IPE across all health professions programs at GMU.”
