On November 24, 2020, Dr. Jumana Al-Salloum, Preceptor & Clinical Pharmacist at CoP GM, has participated in a focus group conducted by the section editors for the Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach (affectionately called the “Dipiro” textbook). All the participants in the focus group are originally members of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy ACCP Education and Training Practice and Research Network (EdtrPRN). The main aim of this meeting was to gather educators to give feedback about a new feature that was included in the 11th edition – specifically, the pharmacist patient care process box.The section editors aimed to have better understanding on how this new feature is being used by educators and students, for both classroom-based instruction as well as during introductory & advanced pharmacy practice experiences (IPPE & APPE).

Dr. Jumana commented: Since we at college of Pharmacy GMU have incorporated the PPCP tool in our PharmD Masters in Clinical Pharmacy programs, it is of great value to participate indeveloping such an important tool where PharmD interns use it the most in their APPE training. We are planning to make all the elements in this tool as a standardized check list to help the interns while applying the PPCP process during bed-side teaching and role modeling by their preceptors and clinical pharmacists.
Dr. Sherief Khalifa (Vice Chancellor & Dean College of Pharmacy) commented: It is great to see our faculty making an impact on pharmacy education through the enhancement of the DiPiro textbook which is used in literally all pharmacy schools around the world.
