Dr. Bilal Tayfour, a PharmD graduate of Gulf Medical University and currently a Pharmacy Practitioner, received Intravenous and Parenteral Nutrition training at IVPN academy, Cleveland Clinic, Abu Dhabi (CCAD).

According to Dr. Bilal, the IVPN academy training program is a great opportunity for clinical pharmacists who are practising or checking sterile compounding. The course covers calculations, dilutions aseptic reconstitution for IV, intraocular, intrathecal preparations, hazardous and chemotherapy compounding and TPN preparations and calculations.

Dr. Bilal adds “I got a chance to observe and help in a rare preparation of autologous serum which is an eye drop prepared from patient’s own blood. Everything was done in rooms equipped with high-end technology, monitored and maintained according to JCI, HAAD and USP chapter .

On behalf of GMU students and graduates, we are proud of our Dean and Professors who want to make every graduate a story of success”.

Dean Sherief Khalifa commented: We are grateful to our partners in CCAD for offering this valuable training opportunity to our students and graduates. We are also happy to see our graduates advance in their careers as well trained clinical and hospital pharmacy practitioners.
