GMU College of Pharmacy Publication on the Scholarly Pathway Course Series: A Conceptual Design

On June 28th, 2020 Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Syed Wasif Gillani and Dr. Shabaz Mohiuddin Gulam have  published an article on scholarly pathway (research course of new integrated PharmD curriculum) titled “Scholarly pathway: Understanding, planning, and competency mapping in pharmacy education” in the Journal of Research in Pharmacy Practice (JRPP) published by Wolters Kluwer and indexed with PubMed/ Medline and NIH.

The article presents the design and planning of an effective research series at the college of pharmacy to provide first‐hand research experience to PharmD students in five consecutive semesters. The scholarly pathways will develop critical appraisal skills to argue/support/value the literature and develop competency for evidence‐based medicines. The pathway will help students develop critical thinking, professionalism, and research skills. The publication is a proof of the efforts made by College of pharmacy at GMU towards consistent improvement and advancement of pharmacy education in the region.
