A group of GMU College of Pharmacy PharmD graduates (Class of 2019) published their research project on ‘self-medication’ in Journal of Pharmacy Research International, an Emerging Sources Citation Index (ECSI) indexed multispecialty pharmacy journal. In their research, authors reported a high prevalence of self-medication among health professions students and recommended for more education programs and restrictions on antibiotic dispensing.
This research project was earlier poster presented in Dubai International Pharmaceutical & Technology Conference & Exhibition (DUPHAT) conference, held during 26th to 28th March, 2019, at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Dubai and the 3rd AUE Research Competition held during 25-26th March, 2020, at American University in the Emirates, Dubai.
GMU College of Pharmacy promotes students to undertake research projects under faculty supervision to prepare them to be practitioners and critical thinker who will undertake research projects to improve the profession and enhance patient care.
The student lead author of the research Dr. Mariam Aboulilah said “We are very happy to see our research work published. The long journey starting from conceptualization and designing of the research methods and questionnaires, filling ethical approval forms, presenting in conferences and finally publishing the work in an international journal, is really an exciting new experience.
