
Fatima Bukar Ngorgi, Class of 2018, is travelling to the United States to undergo Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) in University of Saint Joseph (USJ) at Connecticut. Fatima is a final year student of Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program at Gulf Medical University (GMU).
Fatima will be staying 2 months in the US to experience training at 2 clinical sites and 1 pharmacy. This is part of the student exchange program initiated by the College of Pharmacy, GMU with its counterpartin the USJ. Students from USJ will visit GMU affiliated hospitals and pharmacies in return. More students from GMU will visit USJ and other institutions in the US in next academic years. This academic exchange is expected to improve portfolio of PharmD program in the GMU.
These student exchange programs are part of the memorandum of understanding signed by GMU, especially with Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Wisconsin, and University of Saint Joseph in Connecticut. National practice sites for GMU PharmD students include Thumbay group of hospitals and pharmacies, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Ajman, and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
