
The recent Faculty Development Seminar was presented on 24 January 2018 by Ms. Shijna Kappally who works as a Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Gulf Medical University’s College of Pharmacy. The presentation was titled ‘Medicines banned in UAE and their associated legal implications’. The objective of the presentation was to sensitize the participants on medicines banned in UAE and to spread the awareness.
In her presentation, Ms. Shijna listed the various medicines banned in UAE by the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHP) and provided the web link wherein one can get the detail list. She also emphasized on various legal implications associated with improper possession of narcotic medications. Also, she listed the available health warnings on certain products which are harmful to the high-risk population such as people with cardiovascular and microvascular problems.
The presentation well explained about the various guidelines for ‘Medicines for personal use’ to be aware while arriving in the UAE.
Upon completion of the presentation, the participants had a good interactive section related to narcotic and controlled medicines.
