
As a part of the ongoing efforts to provide quality education and industrial training to our PharmD Students, College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University (GMU) signed a MoU with LIFEPharma on January 4, 2018. LIFEPharma is an integrated pharmaceutical company approved by European Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). As a part of the collaboration, a team of experts from College of Pharmacy visited the company on January 15, 2018. The team was led by Prof. Sherief Khalifa, Dean College of Pharmacy along with the Chair of the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department Dr.Ibrahim Elsayed and Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics Dr. Shery Jacob.
The team met their industrial counterpart led by Dr. Magdi Fahmi, Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Gaurav Sharma, Head of Operations and Mr. Sridhar Reddy, Head of Quality Control and Quality Assurance. During the meeting both parties discussed on various industrial training options available for GMU PharmD students and possible collaborations in areas of research and sharing of resources and expertise. Further, discussions were held on providing industrial exposure to students through joint research projects, industrial visits, training programs, webinars and students internships.
Dean Sherief Khalifa commented: This collaboration between academia and industry is expected to promote academic and professional excellence in both institutions and will serve as a model for others to follow.
