Dr. Haider Presents on “Genetically Engineered Polymers and Their Applications” at The College of Pharmacy, GMU

Dr. Mohamed Haider, Assistant Professor and Chair of Pharmaceutics department at University Sharjah University delivered a faculty research seminar on January 11, 2018. The presentation title was “Genetically Engineered Polymers and Their Applications”. Dr. Mohamed described the concept of smart polymers and their applications in drug and gene delivery. He presented some of his research data regarding synthesis and characterization of silk-elastin polymers during his Ph.D. at Maryland University and his postdoc at John Hopkins University. Moreover, Dr. Mohamed highlighted the approach of utilizing mixtures of chitosan and glycerophosphate to form thermosensitive gels. The seminar was followed by a Q&A session where attendees discussed future prospects and expected applications of smart polymers.

We hope that such activities will open the door for research collaborations between the Colleges of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University and University of Sharjah.
