On November 26, 2019, Dr. Jason C. Cooper shared practical aspects of drug information service to GMU Master in Clinical Pharmacy students. Dr. Cooper is a Clinical Pharmacist at MUSC Drug Information Center and Residency Program Director, PGY1/PGY2 Drug Information at Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Cooper is one of the co-investigators on research related to the establishment of drug information center at Thumbay University Hospital.
The session started after watching a video about MUSC Drug Information Center. The Center is providing their services to answer queries, prepare hospital formulary, and clinical guidelines. The discussion was very interactive with students asking practical issues in providing drug information service. The answers were with examples explaining how they manage to perform drug information service at MUSC.
Dean Prof. Sherief Khalifa commented: Such discussions on practical aspects of drug information service serve to orient students towards best practices in clinical practice.
