
As part of the professional collaboration effort initiated by the College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University (GMU), the following experts from the Cleveland Clinic, Abu Dhabi lectured at GMU on December 17, 2017.
- Dr. Osama Tabbara, Executive Director, Department of Pharmacy Services, Cleveland Clinic, Abu Dhabi.
- Dr. Rania El-Lababidi, Manager, Pharmacy Education and Training Co-Director, Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, Department of Pharmacy Services, Cleveland Clinic, Abu Dhabi.
It was an enlightening session for the Students and Faculty at the College of Pharmacy. Dr. Osama lectured on ‘etiquettes’ for pharmacists. The core etiquettes required in day-to-day practice were listed and explained. The best evidences on best practices were discussed as relating to the practices of pharmacists in the UAE. Ensuring quality in practice needed proper etiquettes consistency. Professional approach in patient care is a culture. Dr. Rania explained different types of training programs organized by Cleveland Clinic, Abu Dhabi and highlighted the training opportunities available for GMU’s Pharm D students on a competitive basis. She pointed out that the sky is the limit for improvement. Being a lifelong learner is key to success.
Students responded to Dr. Osama on what changes they will make on their etiquettes. As usual, he left a mark on the attendees’ behavior.
Dean Sherief Khalifa of the College of Pharmacy, GMU commented that communication skills are essential for the students and pharmacists to be successful.
