Thumbay College of Management and AI in Healthcare at Gulf Medical University observed a day dedicated to ‘Emerging Advancements and Technologies in Healthcare’ on November 14, 2024. The event highlighted the critical role of science, technology, and medical innovation in achieving sustainable development, aligning Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 17 and 3.
In collaboration with Dr. Liju Susan Mathew from the College of Medicine and Year 1 BSc.HME students, the college actively promoted meaningful participant engagement. The event featured interactive posters and educational games designed to inspire young learners to embrace emerging technologies and drive innovation in healthcare.
The students presented key technological advancements, including artificial intelligence in healthcare, telemedicine, wearable devices, big data analytics, robotic procedures, and sustainability initiatives. The event emphasized the significance of partnerships, data privacy, and ethical technology use, aligning with the 2023 SDG Summit’s vision of bridging gaps in science, technology, and innovation to promote sustainability in healthcare. It highlighted the role of technology in enhancing patient-centered care, advancing personalized health solutions, and promoting sustainable and secure healthcare innovations while designing patient-focused healthcare practices for the future.
Dr. Lubna M. Abdel Jawad, Lecturer of Innovation and Technology, remarked, “Events like this are crucial for students’ professional education. Promoting technological innovation in the region will motivate and inspire the best and most sustainable practices.”
Dr. Sudhir Rana, Associate Professor of Marketing and Strategy and Program Director of the Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management and Economics, reflected, “The international scope of the Healthcare Management program at GMU is expected to develop a competent workforce that can optimize safer and unified healthcare delivery system practitioners.”
