Prof. Hesham Marei, Vice Chancellor Academics and Dean, College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University (GMU), delivered a keynote lecture and led a hands-on workshop on ‘Maxillary Sinus Grafting: An Evidence-Based Practice’ at the prestigious International Restorative and Implant Symposium (IRIS) 2025 held at the World Trade Center, Dubai on the 9th & 10th of May 2025.

Prof. Hesham’s session provided a comprehensive overview of the clinical indications for maxillary sinus bone grafting, with reference to current scientific literature. He highlighted anatomical considerations and evidence-based surgical techniques to enhance graft success and long-term implant outcomes. The session also addressed potential complications such as Schneiderian membrane perforation, graft infection, and sinusitis, along with their prevention and management strategies.
The hands-on workshop reinforced key surgical principles and allowed participants to practice advanced sinus grafting procedures in a controlled environment under expert supervision.
