College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University held the White Coat Ceremony for its new Spring 2019 intake of First-year DMD students on 6 Jan. 2019. In this symbolic event, Prof. Manda Venkatramana, Vice Chancellor and Acting Dean of College of Dentistry administered the pledge and initiated the students into their profession after students donned their white coat proudly!
Amna Almheiri expressed, “The White Coat Ceremony was an eye-opening experience. It was a very organized event and I was honoured to be a part of the ceremony. I felt motivated and inspired especially while taking the pledge.”
College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University is the only college offering DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) program in the U A E. The Doctor of Dental medicine (DMD) program is a competency-based model of education with the Program learning outcomes aligned to American Dental Association (ADA) and American Dental Education Association (ADEA). The program received Full Accreditation from Ministry of Education, UAE, in 2018.
The College of Dentistry is well equipped with a state of the art Dental Simulation Lab, Wax lab and Phantom Head lab which are used for pre-clinical teaching and assessment purposes. Clinical phase training is fulfilled in Thumbay Dental Hospital which is equipped with 61 dental units. College of Dentistry also offers Dental Internship Program. Masters of Dental Surgery (MDS) in Periodontics and Endodontics are intended to provide future pathways for all Dental graduates in their own alma mater.
