The College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University (GMU) organized a community engagement educational event at the Special Needs Future Development Center (SNF), Dubai, on the 25th of February 2025. The initiative aimed to enhance oral hygiene practices among children and young adults with diverse special health care needs, to create awareness and self-care skills.

Students from the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program, along with faculty members, actively participated in the event. The session featured a hands-on approach, demonstrating specialized oral hygiene techniques tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals with special healthcare challenges. Discussions with teachers and caregivers emphasized strategies to promote independence, included dietary counseling, and offered recommendations for suitable oral hygiene tools.
In addition to practical demonstrations, participants engaged in interactive board games centered around oral health, offering a fun and engaging learning experience.
