Prof. Walid Elsayed delivered a Faculty Development Session On Navigating NIHS Guidelines: A Blueprint for Residency Program Design

In continuation to the Faculty Development Program series, the Quality Assurance and Program Effectiveness Committee of the College of Dentistry, organized a faculty development session on “Navigating NIHS Guidelines: A Blueprint for Residency Program Design” on the 28th of June 2024. The session was facilitated by Prof. Walid Elsayed, Associate Dean of Academics, College of Dentistry, GMU.

During the session, Prof. Walid provided a structured outline for creating effective residency programs. The process included drafting a comprehensive competency framework, developing program goals, designing didactic, clinical, and research sessions, enlisting Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs), and a robust assessment pattern in alignment with the NIHS guidelines.

Prof. Walid also outlined the roles of program directors, associate program directors, and evaluation committees while designing the residency programs. Lastly, Prof. Walid also encouraged faculty to apply to become surveyors for accreditation, thereby enhancing their understanding of accreditation standards.
