In continuation to the Faculty Development Program series, the Quality Assurance and Program Effectiveness Committee of the College of Dentistry, GMU organized a faculty development session on “An Overview of Statistical Analysis in Research” on the 29th of March 2024. The session was delivered by Prof. Hani A. Salam, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, part-time professor at the College of Dentistry, GMU.
Prof. Hani covered several statistical principles such as the importance of deciding on the appropriate statistical test prior to executing a study, distinction between parametric and non-parametric tests, and the important role of p-values and confidence intervals in statistical inference. Prof.Hani facilitated a thorough understanding of statistical methodologies, promoting a culture of data-driven inquiry within the academic community.
Overall, the event was a refresher on the basic concepts of statistics which was attended by several faculty members.
