Gulf Medical University’s College of Dentistry Welcomes its First Batch of Students for the Diploma in Dental Assistant Program

Gulf Medical University’s College of Dentistry (CoD) ushered in its first-ever batch of students for the Diploma in Dental Assistant program (DDA) on the 2nd of October 2023. The orientation program played a vital step in acquainting the newcomers with the university’s facilities, academic guidelines, and the pivotal role they will play in the field of dental healthcare.

The event commenced with a gracious welcome address by Prof. Hesham Marei, Dean, CoD, GMU. Dr. Dusan Surdilovic, Program Director, DDA, enlightened the students about the significance of dental assistants in supporting dentists and ensuring the seamless operation of dental clinics.

Dr. Heba Mohamed Abdelall, Director of the Mentorship and Academic Advising Program, introduced the students to the Student Happiness Center (SHC) and the mentorship program, emphasizing the university’s commitment to their academic and personal growth. Furthermore, Dr. Sabrin Ali Azim, Associate Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, provided a comprehensive overview of GMU’s rules and regulations, ensuring that the students were well-informed and ready to navigate their academic journey smoothly.

To familiarize the students with the university’s support services, Ms. Burcu Aydin, Director of the Student Affairs Department, highlighted various aspects of student life and support available. Mr. Suraj Sebastian, E-learning Manager & IT Lecturer, and Mr. Daies Idiculla, Librarian, GMU, introduced the students to the IT and library facilities, showcasing the resources at their disposal.

The College of Dentistry, GMU, looks forward to guiding and nurturing these aspiring dental assistants towards a successful and fulfilling career.
