The College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University, in collaboration with its industry partner Curaden Academy, organized an insightful guest lecture titled “The Unspoken Curriculum: Psychology and Patient Relationships in Dentistry” on the 16th of April 2025 for clinical instructors. The session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Mário Rui Araújo, an expert in health psychology and iTOP Lecturer.

Prof. Mário discussed about the “unspoken curriculum”, the subtle but powerful influence of psychological dynamics and interpersonal relationships in clinical settings. The session focused on how instructors can better model and teach effective communication, empathy, and patient-centered care as essential components of dental practice.

This event reflects the College’s commitment to providing holistic, evidence-based dental education that focuses on both clinical skills and important behavioural aspects of patient care.
