GMU College of Dentistry Conducted a Workshop on Wireless Scanners in Collaboration with Industry Partners Alliedstar & Truemed

The College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University (GMU), in collaboration with its esteemed industry partners Alliedstar and Truemed, successfully conducted a hands-on workshop titled “How Wireless Scanners Can Improve Your Workflow” on the 4th of September 2025.

The workshop was conducted for BDS students in year 3, and 4, and for dental interns. The sessions were led by Dr. Amro Farrag, Head of Sales, MEA, Alliedstar, who introduced students to the fundamentals of wireless intraoral scanning technology and its clinical applications.

Students learned the scientific principle behind wireless scanners including how light-based optical scanning captures reflections from dental structures, processed by software into precise 3D digital impressions. They also discovered how wireless scanners improve accuracy, enhance patient comfort, and offer greater convenience compared to conventional impressions and wired devices.

The interactive format gave participants valuable hands-on experience, demonstrating how such innovations can streamline workflows and elevate the standard of care.

This initiative reflects GMU College of Dentistry’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technologies into dental education, preparing graduates for the era of digital dentistry.
