College of Dentistry Hosts an Orientation Session For Year 1 Students of Diploma for Dental Assistant Program Batch 2024!

The College of Dentistry, GMU conducted an orientation program for Year 1 students of the Diploma for Dental Assistant program (DDA) on the 9th of September 2024. The event was designed to introduce the students to the university’s state-of-the-art facilities, academic protocols, and their future roles in the dental healthcare sector.

The orientation opened with welcoming remarks from Prof. Hesham Marei, Dean, CoD, and Prof. Walid El-Sayed, Associate Dean for Academics and Research, CoD. Dr. Dusan Surdilovic, Program Director of the DDA program, highlighted the critical role dental assistants play in supporting dentists and ensuring smooth operations in dental practices.

Dr. Heba Mohamed Abdelall, Director of the Mentorship and Academic Advising Program, introduced the Student Happiness Center (SHC) and the mentorship program, emphasizing GMU’s commitment to fostering both the academic and personal development of its students. Additionally, Dr. Sabrin Ali Azim, Associate Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, provided a detailed explanation of GMU’s academic regulations.

Furthermore, Ms. Burcu Aydin, Director of Student Affairs, highlighted the range of student services available, while Mr. Suraj Sebastian, E-learning Manager & IT Lecturer, and Mr. Daies Idiculla, GMU Librarian, familiarized the new students with the university’s IT and library facilities, underscoring the vast resources they can access throughout their studies.

The orientation program concluded with a campus tour for the students, led by Dr. Tala AlTamimi.
