Prof. Sura is a Professor of Oral Medicine with over 35 years of teaching and clinical experience. She graduated from Baghdad University in 1988, ranking third in her cohort, and immediately joined the College of Dentistry as a faculty member. She earned her Master’s degree in Oral Medicine in 1995 following which she obtained her Doctoral degree in 2005, both from Baghdad University, Iraq. In 2012, she earned a Diploma in Health Professions Education from Gulf Medical University. In 2020, she was awarded the Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS RCPS) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. In 2021, she obtained a master’s degree in health Professions Education through a joint program with the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) and CenMEDIC. Most recently, in 2025, she achieved an internationally recognized NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement from the United Kingdom.

Prof. Sura has held several academic and administrative positions in Iraq and the UAE, including roles as Head of Department, Associate Dean, and Academic Associate Dean at the College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University. She has also chaired multiple institutional committees and has been instrumental in curriculum development and accreditation processes.

Prof. Sura is a licensed Oral Medicine Specialist from the Ministry of Health (MOH), providing consultation services at Thumbay Medicity, UAE. She has played a vital role in supervising clinical training for dental students and currently serves as Chairperson of the Ministry of Health Licensing Committee for all specialties within the domain of Oral Medicine.

In the field of research, Prof. Sura has authored over 50 publications in internationally recognized and indexed journals. Her research primarily focuses on potentially malignant disorders, muco-cutaneous lesions, orofacial pain, and the management of medically compromised patients.

Prof. Sura actively engages in global academic discourse, presenting and participating in medical and dental conferences. Her work integrates medicine and dentistry, advancing both fields through research, clinical practice, and education.
