Dr. Mohammed Akl

Dr. Mohammed Akl is an Assistant Professor of Prosthodontics at the College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University. He received his dental degree from the University of Sharjah College of Dental Medicine in 2018. Dr. Akl moved to the United States to pursue further training in esthetic, implant, and restorative dentistry and joined the specialty training program in Prosthodontics at the University of Minnesota where he graduated with a Specialty Certificate in Prosthodontics and a Master of Science degree in 2021. He is Canadian board-certified, a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and is eligible for certification by the American Board of Prosthodontics.

Dr. Akl is an active member of the American College of Prosthodontists, American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, and American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. He is passionate about digital dentistry and using digital technology to enhance patient care. Dr. Akl has served in multiple leadership roles at dental schools in the United States and is the former Director of Digital Education at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. During his tenure at the school, he was awarded the President’s Leadership and Service Award for his “invaluable leadership and service to the University of Minnesota.” He remains actively involved with various universities in the United States as an adjunct faculty member and serves as an advisor and consultant for dental schools looking to implement digital workflows and systems within their curriculum or for patient care.

Dr. Akl has lectured nationally and internationally on various topics of digitally augmented prosthodontics with a focus on digitally driven esthetics and implantology. In research, Dr. Akl has over 10 publications in internationally recognized journals. His current clinical and research interests are focused on esthetic dentistry, color science, digital dentistry, and complex reconstructions.
