Message from Dean

Greetings from College of Nursing, Gulf Medical University!

College of Nursing is the youngest constituent college of Gulf Medical University Academic Health System which believes that “Nursing is a profession that promotes health and prevents illness among individuals, families and communities in local, regional and global level through the competencies derived from nursing sciences and through the scope of practice guided by ethical principles”. The college offers four years program in Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and two years program in Bachelor of Science in Nursing for Registered Nurses (RN-BSN).

The nursing curricula of our programs are benchmarked with the standards and scope of practice recommended by American Nurses Association and matched with its seventeen standards including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation, communication, leadership, Evidence-Based Practice, research and ethics.

The College is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories where the students have been imparted with the expected nursing competencies through simulation before practising on live patients. Our strength is the own Academic Health Center in Ajman and parent hospitals in various parts of UAE where the students learn their nursing skills through hands-on practice. Our students obtain individualized supervision and guidance in the clinical settings by their faculties and clinical lecturers who are available round the clock. Further, the students are also provided with the Community Health Nursing experience in Primary Health Centers governed by Ministry of Health, UAE. Apart from the practical exposure to core nursing specialities, we do offer hands-on experience in Nursing Research, Nursing Leadership & Management and Nursing Education.

Our faculty members are highly qualified and have vast experience in teaching the art and science of nursing. They ensure the curriculum is implemented through effective and innovative teaching-learning strategies. The Inter-Professional Education climate in the Gulf Medical University help in preparing the students to be good health care team members in the future.

Our partnerships and affiliations with various health care settings and hospitals render practical experience to our students at par with the global nursing standards and equip them to deliver nursing care to diverse population across the culture. We hope the world class infrastructure at GMU, strong clinical facilities in our Academic Health Centre and our international collaborations will enlighten and enhance the learning experience of our nursing students.
