Universities from all over the United Arab Emirates Participate in the International Conference on ‘Quality Measurement in Health Professions Education – Revisiting the Metrics’

Deans and faculty of different colleges in the UAE and CAA Commissioners, Prof. Stephen Arkle, Prof. Amjad Mohammad Qandil and Prof. Dhayaneethie Perumal, actively participated and contributed to the professional focus group discussions on ‘Assessment of Competency Framework’ held on 27th March 2022, the third day, of the International Conference on ‘Quality Measurement in Health Professions Education – Revisiting the Metrics’, at the Ajman Bahi Palace Hotel, organized by the Gulf Medical University.

The third day involved a face-to-face session in which the main theme was Competency based assessment in Dentistry wherein the dental colleges deliberated the different ways of assessing competencies such as professionalism, communication and social skills, health promotion, clinical and scientific knowledge and patient centered care. The discussion also included the challenges incurred by different universities and strategies to overcome them, and practices implemented to establish a unified competency-based framework in accordance with the CAA regulations.
