College of Dentistry, GMU in collaboration with Ritter, a German based dental implant company organized, and conducted a ‘Dental Implant Hands-on Workshop’ for dental interns and MDS Periodontics postgraduate students on the 31st of March 2022. The workshop included a lecture session on ‘Immediate implant placements’ delivered by Dr. Emad Salloum, Oral and maxillofacial surgeon followed by a hands-on practical session conducted in the simulation dental lab. The lecture highlighted extensive evidence-based literature, various aspects of case selection, correct 3D placement of implants, flap vs flapless techniques and socket preservation. The lecture concluded with a ‘recipe for successful immediate implant placements’. During the hands-on workshop the candidates placed dental implants on cast models.
