Gulf Medical University conducted the Mid-Cycle Review of its Strategic Plan 2023–2027 on 23rd June 2025. The session aimed to reflect, refocus, and realign institutional efforts in line with the UAE’s strategic priorities.

Representing the College of Dentistry, Prof. Walid Elsayed, Associate Dean Academics, delivered a concise and impactful presentation highlighting the college’s progress, challenges, and future direction. His presentation was structured around the seven goals of the Outcome-Based Evaluation Framework (OBEF) established by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), encompassing Employment Outcomes, Learning Outcomes, Industry Collaboration, Research Outcomes, Reputation, and Community Engagement, each measured through specific KPIs.
Prof. Walid emphasized key achievements, including the successful expansion of academic programs such as the Diploma for Dental Assistant program (DDA), the Clinical Certificate in Dental Implantology, and the Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics Residency Program. He also highlighted the successful implementation of community engagement activities, reaching out to schools, labour camps, and institutions for children with special needs, and for its commitment to sustainability through initiatives like Eco-Friendly Dentistry, aligning educational events with the ‘Go Green’ goal.
As a strategic way forward, Prof. Walid emphasized the continued advancement of dentistry-based research to further enhance the college’s academic and societal impact.
