World Physiotherapy Day Celebration 2018

Faculty of Physiotherapy, College of Health Sciences, Gulf Medical University celebrated World Physiotherapy Day on 9th September 2018.

The physiotherapy day celebration was inaugurated by Dr.Praveen Kumar, Dean, CoHS. In morning session BPT students displayed posters explaining the role of physiotherapy in mental health and the importance of physical activity along with information related to ergonomic advice. BPT students performed BMI assessment, core stability assessment and demonstrated therapeutic currents and its effects to interested volunteers aiming at creating awareness.

In the afternoon session the Chief Guest Prof.Hossm Hamdy, Chancellor, GMU delivered the keynote address on the role of physiotherapy in all spheres of patient care and enlightened the gathering about the role of technological developments in rehabilitation. He also highlighted about the establishment of the Thumbay Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital with state of art services within the GMU campus and that students registered in the Physiotherapy programs can get trained in the setup.

Dr.Ramprasad M. Faculty of Physiotherapy delivered a talk on “Physiotherapy and Mental Health” the theme of WCPT for 2018 [Link]

Our proud GMU alumni Ms.Amal Al Matrooshi, Deputy Head of Physiotherapy, Al Qassimi Hospital, Sharjah shared her experiences and inspired the students with her talk on “Student to a deputy’s head – a success story”.

Ms.Shria Sadhu, a client of physiotherapy services explained about her experiences on “A journey back to recovery” and enlightened the students about the role of Physiotherapy in patient care.

The session ended with vote of thanks from Dr.Kumaraguruparan G., BPT Program Director, CoHS.
