The College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University, proudly secured University Excellence Award 1st Place at the prestigious 37th CAD/CAM Digital and Orofacial International Dental Conference and Exhibition, held on the 15th of November 2024, organized by CAPP Events. The award was received by Prof.Hesham Marei, Dean, College of Dentistry, GMU.
Moreover, the college’s students and alumni showcased their innovative research achieving the following accolades under the category ‘Science by Students’. 1st Place was awarded to GMU Alumni Marwah Salah Abdullah and 5th year BDS student Omar Mohamed Shawky for their poster titled “Mind Games: Humans vs. AI in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.” Following which 2nd Place was presented to Maryam Khamis and Maria Morise, 5th year BDS students, for their research poster titled “Marginal Gap and Fracture Strength of Different CAD/CAM Ceramic Crowns.” The 3rd Place was earned by 5th year BDS students Christine Jose, Qazi Mohsen, and Ahmed Syed for their poster titled “Dental Saliva Indicators: Unraveling the Biomarker Tapestry in Breast vs. Oral Cancer”.
These achievements were made possible under the guidance of our faculty: Dr. Sabrin Ali Azim, Associate Professor of Oral Surgery, Dr. Mohammed Shoaib, Lecturer & Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Diaaeldin Farag, Associate Professor of Fixed Prosthodontics, and Dr. Riham HadjHamou, Lecturer and Specialist in Orthodontics.
